We are very much proud to introduce three American rod builders who are certified by  the official  distributor in the U.S.

They create rods with design and functional beauty that go above and beyond the client’s order to create the ultimate one-of-a-kind custom rod.

We respectfully refer to them as　　for their skillful use of  rod components and their willingness to educate and spread the joy of “rod building”.

In 2019, we have certified a select group of active rod builders in Japan as　　and we have been working together to educate and promote the joy of “rod building”.

From 2023, we will be joined by　, and together we will work to create a culture of rod building further more. We will continue to listen to anglers and create products that meet their needs so that ‘s global network can continue to make anglers’ dreams come true.

Mike Garone has always been obsessed with two things, channeling his creativity and fish. Garone caught his first fish at three, igniting a life-long passion for fish and fishing. His fondest childhood memories are fishing with his grandfather in Long Island, NY for Fluke.

Garone was introduced to custom rods at 19 while working at an aquarium store. His manager Steve Kolb built custom rods and showed him how the use of quality components, sound construction and personalization creates a tool with superior performance. Kolb also inspired Garone’s creativity with his use of snake skins, feather inlays, and grips made with cork and exotic wood burls. Immediately Garone became immersed in all things rodbuilding. His thirst for more knowledge led him to Billy Vivona and The NERBS (The North East Rod Builders). This group inspired his deep dive into decorative thread wrapping and shared their immense wealth of knowledge which drastically shortened his learning curve.

Mike has been wrapping rods for over 15 years and is an active member of The NERBS. He continues to learn and perfect his craft, along the way introducing it to new builders and helping others to elevate their skills. You can see his work on the cover of Rodmaker Magazine and hear him on the Tide Chasers Podcast. He is the owner of Garone Custom Rods and Tackle,  specializing in saltwater rods for active methods of fishing like live bait, jigging and topwater. He loves to create rods that perform in the hand as beautifully as they appear to the eye.

Garone resides in Port St. Lucie, Florida with his wife Amy and Cocker spaniel Gibbs. When he isn’t building rods he is busy exploring the fishing opportunities in his new home state of Florida. Mike is a member of Port St. Lucie Anglers and Captains for Clean Water. He has also been involved with Save The Summer Flounder Fishery Fund and The Warriors for Warriors fishing tournament.

Founder and sole builder of high-end bespoke custom fly, conventional, inshore, and offshore fishing rods.  Specialize in handmade carbon fiber grips.  Also perform conventional reel super tuning, rigging/spooling,  custom fly tying and custom lure making/painting services. 

Expanded business into a single member LLC for insurance and product liability purposes.  Built more than 60 rods in 2021 and have already completed more than 40 rods year-to-date in 2021.  All builds include Fuji Components.  Specialty types of rods built expanded to include Tenkara, BPS, and Slow Pitch Jigging Rods.

I was lucky enough to grow up on the Gold Coast in South-East Queensland and spent most weekends and school holidays fishing the local waterways with my parents on their boat. My 5th birthday present was a rod and reel. From this time, I was hooked on fishing!

In the early 1980s like most rod builders, I started building a few rods for myself and fishing mates in my garage. Through a lot of trial and error and only a couple of books to read, my rod building knowledge and skills progressed until I registered my custom rod building business in 1988. I then started doing rod repairs and custom rods for some of the local tackle shops.

During this time, I have been lucky enough to see many improvements in the rod building industry. Fuji products have been an integral part of these advances and continue to excel with the components they produce. Today, 33 years on and my rod building workshop is now purpose built and climate controlled to produce rods of the highest quality.

Ben Kjorsvik founded BK Custom Rods in Australia’s beautiful southern city of Hobart, Tasmania. As owner and operator, Ben, a keen fresh and saltwater angler with lure and fly, has 13 years of experience designing and building custom fishing rods.

After joining the local tournament fishing scene in the mid-2000s, Ben realised that the rods on the market weren’t up to the job; they lacked performance, ergonomics, and aesthetics. What began as a hobby in 2008 soon developed into a passion shared by friends and family. With such a diverse range of fishing styles in Tasmania, people wanted tackle to suit their style. Ben has developed an Australia-wide customer base since he started trading as BK Custom Tackle in 2013. Today, ‘BK Custom’ builds anything and everything a fish-fanatic might desire. From ultra-light spin and fly rods for chasing elusive bream and trout to the heaviest game rods developed for Tasmania’s recreational tuna and emerging swordfish fishery, Ben’s rods are a staple for many of Australia’s anglers.
